Wellness Policy Evaluation Update, December 6, 2013
The Macon County Wellness Policy has recently been evaluated by the Superintendents Designee, Patricia Collins, School Nutrition Director. The findings of the evaluation were that the schools are working diligently to meet the local Wellness Policy.
All schools in the system participate in the Fitness Gram program. The Fitness Gram is a State mandated program that evaluates each student’s fitness. All students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade is required to take Physical Education each year. Students in grades 9 through 12 have one semester of Physical Education. Health classes are also offered in grades 6 through 12.
Macon County High School offers Food and Nutrition through the Food Science Class. All food sold on campus must meet the Board Policy for foods of non-nutritional value. No food is sold until after lunch.
Each Schools Nutrition Program follows all the new USDA guidelines for Healthier Meals.
