Star Student

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Macon County High School proudly celebrated the announcement of its 2025 STAR Student—Mr. Jeremiah Walker! A distinguished senior at MCHS, Jeremiah earned this prestigious recognition by achieving the highest SAT score among his graduating class.

As part of the STAR program tradition, Jeremiah also had the honor of selecting his STAR Teacher, recognizing Mr. Ramesh Kathroju, an engineering teacher at MCHS, for his outstanding mentorship and impact on his academic success.

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program, sponsored by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), honors high school seniors across Georgia who excel in both standardized testing and academic performance. To qualify, students must:

✔ Be a legally enrolled senior in an accredited Georgia high school

✔ Achieve the highest single-date SAT score in their graduating class

✔ Score at or above the national SAT average in Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math

✔ Rank in the top 10% of their class or among the top 10 students based on cumulative GPA

MCHS is incredibly proud of Jeremiah’s hard work, dedication, and academic excellence. Congratulations to Jeremiah Walker and Mr. Ramesh Kathroju on this well-earned achievement!
